A manhole cover is a removable plate forming the lid over the opening of a manhole, an opening large enough for a person to pass through that is used as an access point for an underground chamber mostly filled with pipes, cables, and even wastewater inside the chamber. It is designed to prevent anyone or anything from falling in, and with special features to keep unauthorized persons and material from entering. Manhole covers are normally made of either gray cast iron or ductile iron. However, there are some specially made ones in steel and stainless steel, but these are rarer than the iron ones and are mainly for special applications. TEM’s manhole covers are stringently tested and are in compliance with BS EN 124-2 2015.

A grating is a cover with holes in it and it is used to cover a water drain. It allows water to flow through, but at the same time, it prevents bigger objects to be flushed into the drain. Gratings are normally made of either gray cast iron or ductile iron. However, there are some specially made ones in steel and stainless steel, but these are rarer than the iron ones and are mainly for special applications. TEM’s gratings are stringently tested and are in compliance with BS EN 124-2 2015.
